Policies


The University Center for International Education has a number of guidelines to ensure a smooth study abroad application process. Before you apply, make sure that you read these guidelines and policies carefully and that you understand them before you apply.

Eligibility & Exclusions
 
At a minimum, students must meet the following criteria in order to apply for a study abroad program:

✈ Must have a 2.5 GPA or a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or advisor
✈ Must be in good disciplinary standing
✈ Students must be 18 to participate in UCIE programs
✈ Students must NOT be classified as a CCP student. Read here for further details

Specific programs may have additional eligibility requirements as defined by the conditions stipulated in the program requirements.

 
Code of Conduct
 
As a Wright State University study abroad participant, you are expected to attend all classes and to participate in all program activities, including in-country program field trips and excursions. Students are to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner as a guest in your host country and as a representative of Wright State University. As a Wright State student and part of the academic community, your rights and responsibilities are outlined in the university’s code of conduct, which applies to off-campus conduct of students, including those on study abroad programs. Student Code of Conduct The Wright State University Code of Student Conduct denotes prohibited types of conduct such as academic misconduct, endangering the health or safety of any person, sexual misconduct and destruction of property. Inappropriate behavior that constitutes a violation of the Student Code of Conduct can result in your removal from a study abroad program.

Cancellation Policy
 
If you cease to meet the conditions for participation in Wright State study abroad program after you have been notified of your acceptance, you may not be permitted to participate in your program, and will face the same financial consequences as outlined in the cancellation policy below. You are strongly encouraged to share this policy with anyone (parents, guardians, others) who will be providing you with financial assistance during your study abroad program.

Please note, for all of the Wright State study abroad programs, the $100 application fee is non-refundable.
 
Ambassador Program Cancellation Policy
If you should decide to cancel your participation in your Ambassador Program, you must immediately inform your faculty leader as well as the UCIE. Also, any payments made towards your program are non-refundable. 
 
External Partner and Exchange Program Cancellation Policy
If you decide to cancel your participation in your study abroad program, you must immediately inform both your study abroad advisor and external partner program (if applicable) via email. Please be sure that you are aware of the cancellation policy for your specific program as well as their refund policy.  The $100 application fee for the UCIE is non-refundable.
