Program Information:

Come live 9,000 feet above sea level in this high-altitude haven for all things fun. Markets, mountains, city culture, beaches, jungles, crater lakes, and the Galapagos are all nearby. On our Intern in Ecuador program, you will get a professional internship tailored to your skills and interests, as well as community needs.

Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
  • Local community development opportunities – You will get to know your host community and learn about the unique challenges Ecuadorians face by working in an orphanage, women’s center, or any of our other intern placements.

  • Resume-boosting experience – Besides improving your Spanish language skills, you’ll be gaining valuable international work experience and professional references for the future. This will certainly help during the post-graduation job search!
  • Strong staff support – Before your trip you will work with CISabroad staff in the US, and once you arrive in Quito, our site director will help you with internship and homestay placement, excursions, and general support.

Location:
From lively indigenous festivals to lovely outdoor cafés in tranquil parks, Quito is a city of wonderful contrasts. Its mixed history of ancient empires and colonialism is visible in the ruins that dot the landscape and the incredible Spanish-style churches and leafy plazas. UNESCO named the entire downtown a World Heritage site and described Quito as having “the best-preserved, least-altered historic center in Latin America.” Surrounding the city are volcanoes and impressive mountains, all easily accessible from downtown Quito for stunning views of the Pinchincha valley.

Ecuador has a wide variety of climates and they changed based on altitude. There truly is a little bit of everything offered in this country with coastal beaches, rainforests and mountain ranges. There is also the exciting ecosystem of the Galapagos Islands to visit, a UNESCO World Heritage site with quite exotic wildlife. With such a wide range of environments to choose from, you will experience countless adventures with new friends during Intern in Ecuador.

Highlights:
There are many reasons to Intern in Ecuador, but here are a few of the key highlights that make this program unique.

•
Visit volcanoes, beaches, rain forest, waterfalls, mountain villages, market towns, and more!
•   Great, inexpensive Andean cuisine, including local specialty cuy (guinea pig!)
•   Incredible weekend excursions - visit the lush coast, trek in the mountains, or sit in the shadow of a volcano
•   Strong on-site support from our site director
•   Visit nearby ruins to learn about Quito’s importance in the Incan empire
